The situation in Bareilly is worsening due to rain. The rain which started from Tuesday midnight is continuing continuously. It rained heavily for about two hours on Wednesday morning. After that, light rain continued till 12 noon. Half the city is flooded with rainwater. Roads have turned into ponds due to waterlogging in Nekpur and Subhash Nagar of Madhinath. Rainwater filled many houses. In view of the continuous rain and waterlogging, holiday has been declared in schools up to class VIII on the instructions of the district magistrate. On the other hand, due to sudden water coming in the Baheri area, the Bahgul river overflowed, due to which the farmers cut the kachcha dam.
People woke up to rain in Bareilly on Wednesday morning. When they came out of their houses, they had to face waterlogging on the roads. According to the Meteorological Department, 58 mm of rain has been recorded in the last 24 hours till 10 am.
Due to monsoon, the rain continues for the eighth day. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the next four days regarding rain. Moderate to heavy rains have been predicted across the district.
After the rain, the maximum temperature dropped by four degrees to 28.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature fell by two degrees. On Wednesday morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.0 degrees Celsius.
The villagers cut down the Khamaria dam built on the Bahgul river in Sheeshgarh due to waterlogging. Former MLC Jaideep Singh Brar had built this dam with the help of the villagers. After the Khamaria dam broke long ago, farmers of many villages were facing the problem of irrigation for about thirty years. When no government listened to them, about four years ago, people collected three lakh rupees as donation and built a dam themselves and blocked the flow of the river.
